each one of these memento mori conversion rings is unique and wonderful in its own way, but this one is maybe the most spectacular of them all if you're looking for a figural, symbolic memento mori ring

this is a very shiny ring, which makes it particularly difficult to photograph without picking up any/every reflection — thanks for forgiving the product photography that truly isn't doing this one of a kind the justice it deserves

this ring is a true one a kind collage and has so many solder seams, so let's dive into how much of a collage this piece is.

-the snakes appear to have some age to them and were likely from the same piece originally. there's a solder seam beneath the snake's neck on both sides of the ring, suggesting it was re-banded at some point, likely to replace a brown/thin antique band.
-and, as is often true, the band was re-sized at some point, so there are also solder seams at the base of the band.
-until recently there was a different skull between the snakes, which was too tall and top heavy for the band/snakes, so it's been swapped with a great old skull borrowed from a very vintage fraternal pin.
-the skull's eyes have been swapped for diamonds
-the snakes originally had semiprecious stone eyes, which were quite damaged, which have recently been replaced with diamonds

while each component piece of this band is solid 14k, there's a lot of solder throughout, so it wouldn't be recommended for anyone with a sensitivity to 10k just in case some of the solder seams have lower karat alloys.

the snakes appear to be from an older piece and would have originally had intricate scale details, which have mostly worn away

solder seams and runs and variations of hue:
-at the base of the band from re-sizings
-between the snake and the skull on either side
beneath the snake's neck where a new band was added/attached

the enamel nose and teeth do show minor wear, and may wear away continuously as the ring is worn

scratches, dents and dings throughout the gold consistent with pre-loved jewelry
